Now this is interesting. Will Ferrell is starring in a Spanish language film, aside three very very sexy Latin stars, Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna, and Genesis Rodriguez. It’s Called Casa De Mi Padre, (or in english: House of my Dad). Also, Ron Swanson is in this movie, as an American, of course. I’m sold.
Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father’s ranch in Mexico his entire his father has incurred. But when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul’s business dealings turn out to be less than legit, all hell breaks loose as they find themselves in a war with Mexico’s most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal).
Telenovelas are already hilarious, even watching them without understanding a word of what is being said. So, I have high hopes for this one, which is not only a comedy with the totally funny Ferrell, but will have subtitles. I didn’t even know he spoke Spanish. Quick, someone who does speak the language, watch the trailer below and tell me if his pronunciation is any good or if he’s phoning it in.
This Western inspired Telenovela send-up is slated to hit theaters March 16th 2012.
