I’m not sure there was ever a demand for an airplane genre, but there sure has been a lot of airplane movies made over the years. Airplane I & II, Soul Plane, Con Air, Snakes on a Plane, and Passenger 57, just to name a few. I find it kind of odd that Hollywood has made so many because honestly who says: “You know what I love? A good airplane movie! There should be more movies that take place inside of airplanes.”
I’m not talking about movies about fighter jets like Top Gun, I’m talking about entire movies set on an airplane. Hollywood has a hard enough time making most action movies believable, so why would they cram an entire movie into a closet sized space?
I guess they’re popular enough because even Asylum is breaking into the airplane genre with Air Collision. The movie follows First Officer Ken Aoki (Gerald Webb, Zombie Plantation) whose passenger jet is affected by a solar flare. Terror strikes when Officer Aoki realizes his disabled plane’s trajectory is headed for Air Force One. Will the President survive? You will have to find out when Air Collision arrives March 27 on DVD and Blu-ray.
Air Collision stars Jordan Ladd, Reginald VelJohnson and Michael Teh as Captain Roscoe Simms.
