Paul Schrader’s The Canyon starring Lindsay Lohan and adult film star James Deen will hit theaters this summer. IFC Films acquired the film after it was rejected by numerous film festivals. It will also be released on digital and on-demand platforms, according to Yahoo Movies.
“I am delighted our film has found an enthusiastic home at IFC. We envisioned ‘The Canyons‘ as a multi-platform release from the beginning and no company knows that world better than IFC,” Schrader said in a statement.
Lohan’s last film was the made for TV Liz & Dick where she played Elizabeth Taylor. Her last theatrical release was the 2010 Robert Rodriguez directed Machete. Even though she has been branded difficult to work, her Canyon co-star praised her in a 2012 interview.
“Working with her was awesome,” Deen said. “She’s super professional. Super great. She’s a fantastic actress … I feel like I learned a lot from her.”
