I’ve been in the mood for a martial arts / floating people / medieval asian movie for some time, but haven’t gotten around to seeing anything due to my crippling laziness. I could have just put on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or Hero (or something else), but I wanted something new and exciting. In fact, I don’t even care what this mystery movie would be about, as long as it fits the bill (see above). And it seems The Guillotines does just that.
To be honest, after sitting through the trailer a few times, I still have no idea what it’s about, or even why the movie is called “The Guillotines”. I guess there might be some sort of struggle or war or whatever (maybe some upset poor people or something), but from the looks of it, people are just running around blowing shit up. And you know what? I don’t care. From the looks of it The Guillotines fits all the requirements of what I’ve been looking for – Martial arts / floating people / and some medieval asian country. The Guillotines however, has the added bonus of some ultimate spinning blade weapon that looks like a combination of Xena’s Chakram and the popular toy, Beyblades, that flies out of some sword hook and does whatever you want it to. How do I know it’s the ultimate weapon? Please note figure one below:
In fact, I’m pretty sure that’s the only solid fact we get out of the trailer. Sure, there are some other keywords like “Fear” and “Loyalty” but I’m not exactly certain what all the hullabaloo is about, and why everyone is running/floating around killing each other. But I’m sure glad they are! The action seems intense, and I really would like to see what the creators decided to do with these ultimate death blades. I don’t know about you, but The Guillotines looks like a super fun flick that I’m pretty sure I’ll be watching ASAP.
P.S. I’m pretty sure the film is called The Guillotines because at some point the spinny thing cuts some guys head off (see :25 in the trailer below)
