Trailer Released For Upcoming Animated Sequel Starship Troopers: Invasion

Starship Troopers — Some know it as novel written by Robert A. Heinlein. Some know it as a $105 million flop. I know it as the day Doogie Howser finally became a man.

Starship Troopers is going animated with Starship Troopers: Invasion directed by Shinji Aramaki. The film follows Carl Jenkins (Neil Patrick Harris’ character from the original) who goes M.I.A. after a distant Federation outpost is attacked by bugs. This isn’t the big live action reboot you’ve been hearing rumors about. This is the fourth film in the series that brought us Starship Troppers 2: Hero of the Federation and Starship Troopers 3: Marauder. The fourth film is different than the other sequels in that it’s a full-length CG feature.

The first teaser trailer has been released online, and while it doesn’t show much, it gives me hope that the original franchise still has some legs. Hopefully this is the beginning of a whole new animated direct-to-DVD trilogy.

Read on for the official synopsis and first teaser trailer for Starship Troopers: Invasion.
